Old Rectory Workshops

In late September we ran the first art workshop at The Old Rectory in St Mellion. It was called Landscape and Composition and it took place in the garden. Fortunately we were very lucky with the weather and the sun lit up the garden and especially the flowers in the beds.

We had spent the summer working in the garden and Patricia had single-handedly planted out the new beds, which was a real labour of love.

Seven took part in the workshop and they were able to explore all corners of the garden. Some even strayed into the churchyard!

We discussed the various compositional devices used in making effective landscape paintings and lots of great work was produced.

The day was rounded off with delicious afternoon tea in true rectory tradition. Patricia baked lots of tasty cakes which we all enjoyed.
